I am new to RB3D,having decided to take a chance on the game after stumbling onto, player-submitted, video-clips of it on YouTube. So far,of the game pack, I've only played RB3D,and think its a great valuep;I'm hooked. My question is this:I would like to try the mods,I've visted the websites suggested by Wailwulf and others and am quite impressed by what I found there.Frankly, though, I'm out of my element,I don't have the necessary knowledge to follow the threads, let alone understand most of the abreviations used by those posting. Perhaps someone knows of walkthroughs or some such other resource that someone like me could use for getting up to speed on both the nomenclature used as well how to actually install any mod and get the results desired.Any help would be appreciated. Loxrana: Hi everyone!
The patch is intended for use with Red Baron 3D, either the 3D boxed version, or the RB2 version with the 'Super Patch'. The patch works best in conjunction with von Tom's Campaign Manager. Later versions of RB3D, and unofficial versions, may not work with 'Single Missions'.

Copy the RedBaron folder and save it, I have numerous versions of Red Baron 3D, the only difference to start with was the folder name. As to abbreviations, most are the acronyms of the Mods.
RotJ = Revenge of the Jastas HASP =Hells Angels Super Patch WFP =Western Front Patch FCJ =Full Covered Jacket (payware) And some Utility programs: CM11 =Campaign Manager 1.1 (unfortunately does not work with Win7 64bit) FCJCP =Full Covered Jacket Control Panel (You want to fly in 1280x1024 resolution? FCJCP is the utility for you) and a very excellent campaign editor which is in French ReLoad =a single player (SP) game starter that allows you to set various options, like a wind direction and engine reliability. But the basics are: Once you get RB3D to work well on your system (Glide Wrapper, Terrain), make a copy if not a number of copies of it. Highlight the game folder it self and while pressing ctrl, click on it and move the folder a smidge and release. This should make a copy of the contents of the game in a separate folder. I do this so I have at least four copies of RB3D.
The take one of the copied folders and rename to something like RotJ, and then install the Revenge of The Jastas mod into it. If serious problems, delete the folder and do again, if minor, see if you can tweak. Do next for other mods that interests you.
If you have questions, ask and i will try to help you out. Just to add to what Wailwulf said: a word of warning before copying your folders - make sure that you've changed Setspeed in Setspeed.exe to close to 100% first. Unfortunately GOG's Setspeed program looses it's filepath if you change the name of the Red Baron 3D folder, copy it, move the folder, etc. It will then not only tell you that the game is running at 99% effeciency when it won't be, but setspeed.exe also won't let you change the settings again. Therefore you'll be getting 12-20 frames per second in the game and seemingly be unable to get that higher.
For the two Glide wrappers I've used (dgVoodoo and Zeckensack's) I've found the former gives slightly better graphics with more of a cpu hit (so I setspeed to 100% for Red Baron 3D versions using dgvoodoo) whereas for Zeckensack's I would recommend keeping setspeed at around 85-95% depending on your cpu - you'll just have to play around with it. Since you'll be installing mods, some of them have higher graphics, even with Zeckensack's glide wrapper, put setspeed close to, if not 100%. Again, put setspeed close to 100% before copying. The original vanilla game without glide wrappers or mods will be too fast to play, but the others should slow you down enough (40-60 fps) that the game should be playable and still look very smooth. Thanks Wail and Dave.I've collected the required zip files however, during the file extraction I'm asked where do I want them placed, from that point on,I'm at a loss not only as to their final destination.but the actual physical actions reequired to get them there. For example,I understand that I need to install CM11 first before I can either install any of the mods, new aircraft models or other enhancements.and at that point I am stuck.I neither know where to unzip the file nor how to really work with directories(kind of have an idea what those are).anymore than I know what a dll. Thanks Wailwulf for the responses.I'm trying to install the HASP;I've visted / to get the patch. It has an installation wizard which should make things exceedingly easy however, first thing the wizard asks is where do I want the patch installed and I don't know.So what exactly do I type as a destination for the installation wizard and will the installation wizard complete the process of installation without any further input from me.If so,once the patch is installed what will I need to do next to utilize it.simply start up RB3D or will something more be required?
The default location for the GOG install of Red Baron 3D is: C: Program Files (x86) GOG.com Red Baron Pack Red Baron 3D Now, if you made a copy of the RedBaron3D folder and let us say renamed the copy as HASP, you would then want to direct the installer to: C: Program Files (x86) GOG.com Red Baron Pack HASP Now, you made mention earlier ' Basically I'm a chimp in front of a pc ' So to clarify some of the above, just in case: For: C: Program Files (x86) GOG.com Red Baron Pack Red Baron 3D C: is the Hard Drive on your computer.
